Crawl Space Encapsulation and Dehumidifier Install in Hillsborough

Most crawl spaces in North Carolina are quietly working against the homes above them. We went with a full encapsulation approach. That meant running an insul-barrier foundation blanket across the walls and ground to seal everything off from outside moisture. The liner runs wall-to-wall and wraps up the foundation walls, creating a sealed environment instead of the open, damp one that existed before. On top of that, we installed an Aprilaire E70 dehumidifier. This unit is built specifically for crawl spaces - it's hung from the floor joists and pulls excess humidity out of the air continuously. The E70 is a workhorse. It handles high moisture loads without breaking a sweat, which matters a lot in a climate like ours. Pair that with the vapor barrier below and the spray foam insulation packed into the wall bays, and this crawl space is now a fully controlled environment.

The difference this makes goes beyond what you can see. Cleaner air circulates through the home. The floor system above is protected from rot and mold. Energy efficiency goes up because conditioned air isn't fighting against a damp, uninsulated crawl space. It's the kind of work that pays for itself over time - in lower utility bills, better air quality, and a home that holds its value.
